Bad Homburg/Wuerselen, 11 July 2017 – Amadeus Germany in Bad Homburg und Traveltainment in Würselen started to prepare technical solutions that will support travel agencies in Germany with implementing the EU Package Travel Directive.
“Amadeus and Traveltainment have been engaged in thinking about this directive for some time now – since the decision of the German Bundestag the key parameters have been bindingly specified and thus also the framework for future solutions”, says Uta Martens, Managing Director at Amadeus Germany. “We currently focus on possible process changes at travel agencies, online travel agencies, call centres and tour operators to analyse with what kind of technical and functional developments we can support them. In the process we consider recommendations from the industry and intensively consult with associations like DRV and of course also with our customers to develop the right solutions that support them with the implementation and the compliance with the new directive.”
“The Package Travel Directive deeply intervenes in the logic of German travel distribution”, says Dr Oliver Rengelshausen, Managing Director at Traveltainment. “According to recent findings from the DRV work groups, in which we have jointly participated since November 2016, the existing booking processes, interfaces and systems have to be adapted in any case. The extent of the required adaptations is currently assessed and our aim is to inform all our customers about our next steps at an early stage.”
